17 years ago I was woken up by Yogi on the phone.
He was about to ship out to basic training and I turned on the tv because of, "some kind of attack."
He'd ship out and make it through airborne school, wind up at the 173rd and find himself in one of the only combat jumps into Iraq. A few years later, I'd sign up to follow suit and wind up at the 82nd Airborne.
Now years after the army and the war, we run a comic shop together. I think a lot of our life has been defined by that day.
We won't ever forget that day or any of the good Americans who lost their lives. We won't forget any of the soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and the sacrifices they made in the war either. We stood shoulder to shoulder, as soldiers, in sheer defiance of the attacks against our nation that began on September 11th 2001.
