I'm a bit choked up in writing this. I never knew Stan personally, but I think most everyone felt like he was a kindly grandfather figure. His stories and characters became our legends, and through him, we learned the value of compassion, strength and doing what's right.
His stories are American legends, folklore for the digital age. At 42 years old, I'm still starry-eyed when I pick up a Spider-Man comic, and that's because he made that character both believable and honorable. These lessons from these tales are often the reason, I've dug deep to climb out of bed, lace up my boots when scared, or even braved the crippling anxiety of a crowd.
The world loved you Stan Lee, and the artists, the writers, the comic shops, and the next generation will carry your legend forward.
